Into the primeval forest Mionší

Into the primeval forest Mionší

The "primeval forest" Mionší is the largest area of natural Carpathian-type beech and fir forest in the Czech Republic. It is home to an exceptionally well-preserved population of forest flora. Mionší is home to bears, black storks, Ural owls and many other species of forest animals.

Visitors can see parts of the forest on an Educational path Mionší created in 2005. The path informs about natural and historical sights of this part of Těšín Beskydy. This gem of Beskydy nature is one of the best-preserved forests in the Moravian part of West-Carpathians. That is why it is strictly protected as National Nature Reserve and public calls it "primeval forest".

The Educational path Mionší is approximately 7 km long circular path with 10 stopping points  with informational boards. The goal is to enable visitors to see at least part of legendary Beskydy "primeval forest" but in a peaceful way.  That is why the path is seasonal - it is open from 1 June to 15 September.  Then it is removed.

The path is of medium difficulty and includes a climb of 330 m. A complete circuit of the path will take 2,2 - 3 hours. It is designed for walking visitors only! Entering the National Nature Reserve apart from via marked path is forbidden. The path is marked by wooden signs with emblem of wood grouse - at the crossroads only.
